特色

本校は小規模な学級編成で行われており、児童生徒は短期、長期滞在者子弟、現地の子供から大人までも籍を置くので、年齢、国籍、目的に於いて学習内容面で の多様 性がある。それゆえコミュニケーションが緊密で、保護者の積極的な参加、協力が必要となる。本校は国際部があり、相互関係があるので両者間の移行が可能で ある。また、母国語及び外国語としての両面から日本語学習にあたるので日本語理解への視野が幅広い。

国際部 JSL1−3

文 科省は日本語を母国語とし、文部科学省の教科書で学習し、毎年進級する。国際部は、日本語を外国語として学習し、日本文化も学ぶ。毎年進級は、不定。文 科省と国際部の相違は、学力の相違ではなく、目標の相違であり、国際部と文科省のクラスの間に常に架け橋をかけてあり、文科省の生徒が国際部で学習するこ とが可能であり、国際部の生徒が文科省のクラスで学習できる。

幼稚部（年少、年中、年長）
教師の日本語の指示が理解できる３、４、５歳児を対象に日本語での保育を行っている。日本語による保育から、子供達に日本文化を継承し、日本語の力を向上させることを目的としている。

小学部
小学校１〜６年を対象にして、文部科学省の学習指導要領に基づき、国語、算数を 中心とした教育を行う。

中学部
中学校１〜３年を対象にして、文部科学省の学習指導要領に基づき、国語、数学、社会を中心とした教育を行う。

JSL（国際部）
日本語を外国語として習得しようとする生徒に日本語教育を行う。入学資格は５歳からで、クラスの配属は診断テストを受けてから担当教師と校長が決定する。 JSL の進級は毎年ではなく、日本語実力テストの75−80％の合格をした場合可能である。JSL1−3 のクラスは、３段階に分かれているので、必然的にJSLのクラスは一部複式クラス的になる。

The Omaha Japanese School was founded in January 1986, to promote and enhance the appreciation, understanding of language and culture through language education. While our main focus is to educate Japanese children living in the United States, it also serves the local community as a source of information on Japanese culture.
Eligibility:
Japanese citizens or children of Japanese citizens who have reached school age, or person of non-Japanese citizens approved by the Board. One trial visit to the class may be granted while considering enrollment. The applicant should be submitted to the Principal.

  Annual General Meeting:
  Parents are required to attend the Annual General Meeting typically held on the last school day in March.Curriculum and Grade:
